New "Policing the Police" Training:
Thursday, July 15, 2010 | |
7:00pm - 9:00pm | |
Tonatierra | |
802 N. 7th St. (at McKinley) |
If you could not attend the first "Policing the Police" Training, we're holding a second one today (Thursday). There will also be more dates scheduled for July, so stay tuned if you can't make this one. If you cannot attend, please invite others who might be interested.
Sheriff Arpaio has promised to hold another racial profiling sweep on July 30th, the day SB 1070 goes into effect. We need dozens of volunteers out on the street to monitor and document the activities of the sheriff's deputies on that day. Attend this training and learn how to safely and legally observe the police during this sweep and in your own neighborhood.
Members of Phoenix Copwatch will lead the training, covering topics such as how to stay safe and avoid arrest while dealing with the police, tips for effective videotaping, and proper documentation of police activities.
This training is open to the public (except law enforcement officers). It will be conducted in English and Spanish.
